Songs That Matter
Sunday 30th June*
10:00am - 4:00pm (with 1hr lunch break at 1:00pm)
This workshop is open to musical improvisers of ALL LEVELS.
Improvised songs can be just as good if not better than written ones. We’ll look at song structures, lyrics, poetry, motif and game of the song to create fully rounded pieces. We’ll explore the transition from scene into song. What makes a scene go from talking to singing? When is it the right moment? How can a song raise the stakes or make us understand a character? We’ll also look at the content of emotional songs, autobiographical songs and how they can bring dramatic and theatrical moments to life in improv.
Class Size: 12
